The origins and development of aluminium in construction

　　Aluminium for construction: This includes both building panels and building profiles (commonly known as aluminium profiles for construction).

　　Windows and doors: Chinese traditional windows and doors are wooden windows and doors; steel windows were introduced to China in the early 19th century, and in 1925 China began to produce steel windows; aluminium windows and doors were introduced to China in the 1970s, and in 1980 China began to produce aluminium windows and doors with architectural aluminium profiles aluminium windows and doors, which were first used in foreign embassies (consulates) in China and a few foreign-related projects in the 1970s. In 1978, Shanghai Glass Machinery Factory was the first company in China to develop and produce aluminium doors and windows and was awarded the National Science and Technology Award, which then became popular very quickly.

　　Curtain wall: In the 1980s, the Great Wall Hotel in Beijing was the first glass curtain wall project built in China in 1983.

　　Heat-insulated aluminium windows: In 1984, the first example of heat-insulated aluminium windows was used in China, with the cooperation of North China Aluminium Company Limited (ALUK), which completed the Beijing International Hotel and the Tianjin Binhai Building project, the first application of heat-insulated aluminium windows in China.

　　Aluminium windows and doors and architectural curtain walls were rapidly accepted and looked upon favourably by the Chinese construction industry and adopted in large numbers. From the mid-1980s to the 1990s China entered the climax of aluminium window and door curtain wall applications architectural aluminium, the rapid application and development of windows and doors and curtain walls greatly stimulated the development, prosperity and progress of the aluminium industry, especially aluminium profiles for construction.
