Important factors affecting the mechanical properties of 6 series aluminium alloys
6063, 6063A, 6A02 and 6061 aluminium alloys are mostly used for the production of construction materials, industrial materials, furniture materials and ladder materials. Most customers have increasingly high requirements for tensile strength and elongation of special-purpose products. Therefore, based on years of practical experience, the following analysis is made on how to obtain better mechanical properties of the commonly used 6-series aluminium alloys.
Chemical composition of aluminium alloy ingot billets
6063 and 6063A are alloys with Mg2Si as the reinforcing phase, so the content of the reinforcing phase should be determined first. When the amount of Mg2Si is less than 0.72%, for products with a small extrusion factor (less than or equal to 30), there is a risk that the tensile strength value will not meet the standard requirements. Mg is a flammable metal and will be burnt during the melting operation. When determining the control range of Mg, the error caused by burnt should be taken into consideration, but it should not be put too wide so that the performance of the alloy will not be out of control. When the range of Mg is determined, the Mg/Si ratio can be used to determine the silicon, Si can form compounds with other elements such as: AlFeSi, so Si should be supplemented on the original basis of about 0.09 --- 0.13%, Mg/Si should be controlled between 1.18 ----1.32. 6061, 6A02 alloy whose Mg2Si amount should be controlled at about 1.4%, in order to strengthen its elongation The content of Cu is about 0.2 --- 0.4%. The Vickers hardness is greater than or equal to 15
