Applications of deformed aluminium alloys

Aluminium alloys are mainly used in the manufacture of body panels such as doors and luggage compartments, bumpers, engine covers, wheel spokes, hubcaps, wheel covers, protective covers for brake assemblies, mufflers, anti-lock braking systems, heat exchangers, body frames, seats, trunk floors and other structural parts, as well as decorative parts such as instrument panels.

Aluminium alloys for body panels

The proportion of the application of aluminium alloys in cars is increasing, for example, the 6000 series (AI-Mg-Si) aluminium alloy plates with heat treatment (e.g. T4, T6, T8) can well meet the requirements of the car shell and can be used as body frame material. In addition, 2000 (AI-Cu-Mg), 5000 (AI-Mg) and 7000 (AI-Mg-Zn-Cu) aluminium alloys can also be used as body materials. In recent years, the 6000 and 7000 series of high-strength aluminium alloys have been used to develop "mouth", "day", "eye" and "field" shaped sheeting and "field" shaped aluminum alloys. The thin plates and hollow profiles in the shape of "mouth", "sun", "eye" and "field" are not only light in quality, high in strength and good in anti-cracking performance, but also good in forming performance, and have been widely used in automobiles.

Other aluminium alloy structural parts

Aluminium alloys are also widely used in other parts of automobiles, for example: General Motors uses 7021 aluminium sheet to manufacture Smure car bumper reinforcement brackets, and Ford uses 7021 aluminium sheet to manufacture Lincoln Town car bumper reinforcement brackets. Aluminium alloys are also used in automobile suspension parts, effectively reducing the quality of the corresponding parts and improving the smoothness and stability of the car, such as the disc brake jaws and power transmission frames produced by 6061 forgings. In addition, aluminium alloys are also widely used in automobile air-conditioning systems, such as 6595 aluminium alloy used in Japan for automobile radiators and refrigerator radiators.
