We introduced pure aluminium in the last article, in this one we will introduce the characteristics of aluminium alloy for sale. The more commonly used alloying elements in aluminium are copper, magnesium, silicon, manganese and zinc, which are sometimes added alone or in combination.

According to the composition and production process of aluminium alloys, they can be divided into two categories: cast aluminium alloys and deformed aluminium alloys. This type of aluminium alloy is usually made into plates, tubes, bars and various profiles through hot or cold pressure processing, i.e. rolling, extrusion and other processes, which requires high plasticity and therefore less alloy content. Casting aluminium alloys are made by pouring liquid metal directly into sand moulds to make various kinds of complex shaped parts, which require good castability, i.e. good fluidity.

The modulus of elasticity of aluminium alloy is small, only equivalent to 1/3 of steel, i.e. under the same cross-section and with the same load, the elastic deformation of aluminium alloy is 3 times that of steel, which is not strong enough to bear the force, but has good anti-shock performance. The hardness range of aluminium alloy (including annealed and age-hardened state) is 20~120HB. The harder aluminium alloy is softer than steel. The tensile strength limit of aluminium alloys is 90Mpa (pure aluminium) to 600Mpa (super hard aluminium), which is a large difference compared to steel. The melting point of aluminium alloys is low (generally around 600°C, steel is around 1450°C). Aluminium alloys have excellent plasticity at room temperature and high temperature, and can be extruded into structural parts with extremely complex cross-sectional shapes, and thin walls and high dimensional accuracy. In addition to suitable mechanical properties, aluminium alloys also have excellent corrosion resistance, thermal and electrical conductivity and polishing properties.
