Marine Aluminum Alloy in marine industry

Marine industry, aluminium and aluminium alloys are used more and more widely in the shipbuilding industry, from small motorboats to large 10,000 tons of oil tankers, from sea hovercraft to submarines under the sea, from civil to military, from fishing boats to marine mining vessels, all use aluminium alloys with excellent comprehensive performance to produce ship shells, support structures, supporting facilities, pipelines and so on.

Aluminium alloys are used in the marine industry to reduce the overall mass of the ship, to increase the speed of the ship and to resist the corrosion of the ship by seawater. The main aluminium alloys used in the marine industry are aluminium-copper alloys, aluminium-magnesium alloys and aluminium-silicon alloys. Aluminium-copper alloys are widely used in ships all over the world, including in China and Russia, but their poor resistance to seawater corrosion has hindered their development in the marine industry. Aluminium-magnesium alloys are mainly used for hull shells, pump ducts, pump housings and seat supports, etc. The grades are 5083, 5086, 5456, 5466, etc. Aluminium-silicon alloy has moderate structural strength, good fluidity, strong filling capacity, easy to produce high density, complex structure of the parts, such as high pressure valve parts, cylinder body, pump, gearbox shell, turbine blades, etc.
