Heating requirements for 6063 alloy aluminium sheets, dies and extrusion cylinders

In order to improve production efficiency, there are many measures that can be taken in the 6063 alloy aluminium plate processing process. For example, we can use induction heating, where there is a temperature gradient of 40-60°C along the length of the ingot (gradient heating), with the high temperature end towards the extrusion die and the low temperature end towards the extrusion pad when extruding, in order to balance some of the deformation heat.

For the extrusion production of 6063 alloy aluminium sheet, the extrusion temperature is the most basic and critical process factor. Extrusion temperature on product quality, production efficiency, die life, energy consumption, etc. have a great impact. The most important issue in extrusion is the control of the metal temperature, from the beginning of the heating of the aluminium bar to the quenching of the extruded profile to ensure that the dissolvable phase does not precipitate out of solid solution or present small particles of diffuse precipitation.

The heating temperature of 6063 aluminium alloy sheets is generally set within the temperature range of Mg2Si precipitation. The heating time has an important influence on the precipitation of Mg2Si and the use of rapid heating can greatly reduce the possible precipitation time. The heating temperature for aluminium bars is generally set at 430-460°C for the flat die and 440-470°C for the manifold die to achieve low temperature rapid extrusion.

Mould heating furnace setting: flat die setting 450-480°C; shunt die setting 460-495°C; flat die and shunt die mixed heating setting 460-495°C.

The heating temperature of the extrusion cylinder is about 50℃ lower than the temperature of the aluminium bar, and the heating rises gradually to the specified temperature so that the temperature of each part is uniform, and the temperature of the inner side of the extrusion cylinder heater of 6063 alloy aluminium sheet is controlled at 380-420℃. The outside temperature is higher than the inside temperature, and the temperature difference is controlled within 50℃.
