Differences of the properties of aircraft aluminium alloys for sale Haomei

2022-10-13

In today's aviation industry, the material most used is undoubtedly aluminium alloy. Therefore, this issue brings you a comparison of the properties of typical aircraft aluminium alloys. The main protagonists in this issue are: 2024 (UNS: A92024), 6061 (UNS: S96061) and 7075 (UNS: S97075). We will then compare the performance of typical aircraft aluminium alloy in terms of mechanical properties and corrosion performance.

First we will compare the physical and mechanical properties of these aircraft aluminium alloys. After comparing the physical and basic properties of the aluminium alloys we can see that the 7075 aluminium alloy is the strongest and the 6061 aluminium alloy is the weakest. Next we compare their high temperature mechanical properties. By comparing the yield strength, tensile strength and elongation, it can be seen that the mechanical properties of aircraft aluminium alloy decrease significantly as the temperature increases. At 150-200°C, the superiority and inferiority relationship between the mechanical properties of different aluminium alloys changes. And the comparison of properties at low temperatures shows that the strength of aircraft aluminium alloys increases as the temperature decreases.

The corrosion performance of aircraft aluminium alloys has been measured in experiments. The corrosion potential was measured under the following conditions: 3.5% NaCl solution + room temperature. The more negative the corrosion potential, the greater the thermodynamic tendency of the material to corrode. Comparing the corrosion potentials of the three materials, it can be found that 7075 has a greater tendency to corrode in sodium chloride solution. Corrosion rates are for the three materials after atmospheric exposure. Exposure time: 10 years. Test sites: 2024, Panama City, Panama; 6061, Newark, New Jersey, USA; 7075, Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland, USA.
