What is the difference between T5 and T6 in the state of six series aluminium sheets? The six series aluminium sheet is an aluminium-magnesium-silicon alloy, the representative grades of which are 6061, 6063 and 6082. Unlike the other seven series aluminium sheets, the state of the six series aluminium sheet is mainly T state, the most is T5 and T6 two states. There is only a word difference, what is the difference between these two states?
Before explaining the difference between the T5 and T6 states, the user must first be clear about the following 2 terms.
Ageing: The process of removing internal stresses from metal.
Quenching: the heating of metal to a certain temperature and sudden cooling to achieve the required hardness. 2, 6 and 7 series aluminium sheets can be quenched to improve their strength.
T5 state means that the aluminium sheet is extruded from the extruder and then cooled by air to reduce the temperature rapidly to achieve the required hardness (8 - 12 hardnesses on the Weyers scale); T6 state means that the aluminium sheet is extruded from the extruder and then cooled instantaneously by water to achieve a higher hardness (13.5 hardnesses on the Weyers scale).
The main difference between the T5 and T6 states is the strength, which is higher than that of the T5 state, while other aspects of performance are similar. In terms of price, the price per tonne of T6 aluminium sheet is US$100 higher than T5 because of the difference in production processes.
We produce and sell 6 series aluminium alloys in T5 and T6 states. Please feel free to contact us if you have a requirement.
